Go on this one-day hike to Nevado de Santa Isabel (Indigenous name Poleka Kasue) a tropical glacier at 4800 MASL while you learn about this ecosystem and enjoy this one-of-a-kind landscape accompanied by a knowledgeable mountain guide.
You will start by being picked up at your hotel in Manizales in a 4x4 vehicle to take you for breakfast before going to Los Nevados National Park. At the park's entrance, you will register, receive some instructions, and an introduction from the forest rangers. You will continue in the car through great roads surrounded by endless Frailejones (the most representative plant of the paramo) and imposing mountains until you reach the starting point for the hike.
After a proper warm-up, you will start hiking the impressive mountain and its spectacular landscapes that will change as you go up until you arrived at the glacier. You will stop there and enjoy the uniqueness of a tropical-glacier environment while admiring the rareness of a snow-covered landscape at 4800 MASL. Next, you will start descending to the 4x4 vehicle through the same road. You will then return to the car and go for a pleasant lunch. Finally, you will return to Manizales to your hotel.
Maximum altitude is 4700 MASL.
