"The guide will pick you up at the hotel to take you on an interesting adventure through the Medellín Metro; you will take the route to the Caribe station, where you will be received by the local tour leader, a local guide born and raised in Moravia, and co-founder of the neighborhood community tourism project. After meeting the local guide and listening to an introduction to the history of the neighborhood, you will start a walk to enter El Morro, passing by the first houses, located in the old garbage dump. There, you will learn about how the recovery process of the area has occurred and how the inhabitants have built very particular customs and ways of using the space.
Along the way, you will see a permanent exhibition of old photographs of the municipal dump, so you can travel back in time and understand more easily how the history of the neighborhood's transformation and the resilience of its inhabitants has been like. Then you will visit the Moravia Greenhouse, a productive project led by women from the community, where flowers and plants such as orchids, native to the region, are planted and traded. You will visit a small local store to have a refreshing snack. Throughout the tour of El Morro, you will be able to meet and interact with various characters relevant to the history of the neighborhood.
Then, you will arrive at the commercial area of Moravia, a strategic point where a map of the neighborhood that has been built by its inhabitants is located. There you will learn about the challenges and difficulties that the population has faced during the neighborhood's renovation and urbanization plans. You will hear the stories of resistance and appropriation of the territory by the people who have given cultural, social and artistic meanings and uses to the neighborhood.
Then you will walk to the Tropical Oasis, a small area of the neighborhood where urban art, community gardens and a cultural space will be waiting for you to live an exciting adventure that combines the environment with your body. There, you will be received by the leaders of Mangle, a community project that uses Capoeira, a martial art originating in Brazil, as a form of expression and catharsis for children and young people who have grown up in the midst of violence and poverty. You will live an experience to connect with your body and with others through songs, dance and joy.
At the end of the Capoeira experience, you have the option of enjoying a delicious lunch prepared by the women of La Cocina Móvil, an itinerant group of young and adult cooks who prepare and teach recipes with healthy menus for locals and travelers.
Finally, you will walk to the Moravia Cultural Center, the latest work designed by the renowned Franco-Colombian architect Rogelio Salmona, a space visited daily by hundreds of Moravian inhabitants to carry out multiple artistic activities such as theater, photography, dance and music. At this point, you will have known the multiple contrasts between buildings, parks, houses and recovered spaces that come alive with the art and culture that its communities impregnate in every corner."
